Quit Smoking!?

Does anyone have any new/creative/interesting or sucessful tricks or ideas on how to quit smoking? I’ve been smoking for abou 2-3 years now and when my mom died at the age of 47 from lung cancer (though hers was not smoking related), I promised her I would quit. Just recently I found out her mother has emphysethmia, and my father is also a smoker (for many years) and is short of breath often. (He lives with me so it is tough when I decide to quit, if he still smokes). Also, I had a PE, or Pulmonary Embolism (blood clot in the lung) in the past 2 years that could’ve been fatal, and I have a 3 year old who I want to live a long healthy life for. No, I don’t smoke around her. Plus, I just don’t enjoy smoking anymore, b/c of the smell, the health risks, it gives me headaches, but the nicotine has got a strong hold on me. Please help if you can! Thank you!
First off, I am an adult so I have been to school and gone through health classes that showed pictures of dieased lungs, so obviously that didn’t work. Do you know what is worse than looking at those pics? Seeing your own mom die from lung cancer. And to tell the truth, when I started smoking, I didn’t care about myself or my body. Thank you to the serious and non-offensive people. I am only human and I make mistakes too. I am now trying to rectify that.
Natalie, someone as dim as u r should’ve been able to spell the word stupid since u probably hear it often. Anyway, try growing up in a house in which your parents smoke and make it seem like it’s no big deal.

How long does it take to stop feeling stressed when you quit smoking?

I quit smoking 4 days ago…i started to exercise and will continue to everyday…it helps alot when you want to quit smoking…the thing is that i feel very stressed and sensitive with everything…i get really nervous and shout at nothing…i did smoke one cigarrette today and half yesterday…but before i was smoking one pack of cigs a day….so i feel much better and i’m starting to feel discusted by cigs…the one i smoked today made me feel dizzy, smelling aweful….i’ve been smoking for 7 years though…i’m i doing it the correct way? When will i stop feeling nervous and stressed? Does it matter that i smoke 1 cig when i feel really anxious?

Can someone advise me about how to quit smoking marijuana?

I smoke daily and have always enjoyed it. But I feel guilty for spending so much money and living life with a buzz. It feels like I always need to be high just to get through the day and I never lived this way before I started smoking years ago. All of my friends smoke weed and it would be hard to be around them when they do it. I am also scared I will be terribly bored or won’t know what to do with my time. (learned habit, i know)
How can I go about quitting smoking weed? What are some benefits to quitting? Some encouragement to quit? or some ideas to hang out with friends or stay sober?

When you quit smoking, how long does it take before you start coughing?

I’ve heard if you quit smoking you cough a lot. How long does it take before that starts and how bad is it?
I just quit for a week and coughed my guts out. Started again and it stopped. Stopped again. I want to know when it is going to start up again and how bad it is going to be.
