How many of you have been able to quit smoking cigarettes?

I don’t smoke, never have; i’m just wondering how many ppl have successfully quit smoking. If you haven’t quit, how many times have you tried to? Do the cravings ever stop? What age did you start smoking and why?

  1. I started smoking about 15 years ago. I have tried over and over to stop but I always go back. I don’t know how to live my life without cigarettes. I get anxious and very angry (at everything and anybody) when I am not smoking. I am a mother of 3 children and feel guilty when I smoke. I am on the nicotine patch right now and it is much easier than with nothing at all. The only thing I worry about is if I will ever be able to get off the "patch"….

  2. I quit 11 years ago! It was hard but it can be done. I went cold turkey. There were cravings for a long time but you have to suppress them and be strong. Anybody can do it. Every time I felt a craving I told myself over and over that I wanted to live. That’s what helped me.

  3. I haven’t smoked for 3 years. I still have cravings, mostly when I reach a certain stress level. But on a normal day, I don’t ever think about or want one.

  4. Actually it’s my New Years Resolution. I just don’t think I’m terribly addicted. I havent had a cigarette since yesterday and I feel downright peachy.
