How to convince someone to quit smoking?

Its driving my absolutely crazy, my dad smokes non-stop everyday, on the balcony and I can frequently smell it… I’ve been trying to persuade him to quit for years, but he never does. The subject of smoking always ends up in a heated argument and it really starts to affect the relationship a lot.

Plus the cigarettes cost a lot due to laws and it really gets on my nerves because its a waste of money. I really am concerned that I have been exposed one time to many, I have to eat dinner a lot and the guests smoke so much that I am concerned about getting illnesses from second hand smoke…

I quit smoking cigarettes recently, how much time will it take bitterness in my mouth to go away?

Spiritually asking, what’s an effective way to quit smoking for good?

I’ve been smoking for about 3 and a half years now ever since my senior year of high school. What are some effective ways of quitting smoking. Preferably answers from ex-smokers please, since they can level with me.

Quit smoking and now feel like a lump is in my throat?

I quit smoking 2 weeks ago today and for the last 5 days I have had this feeling of a lump in my throat. My throat also feels very dry and irritated. Has anyone else had this side effect? I went to my GP today and he wasnt sure if the quitting was the cause but gave me samples of a med for acid reflux. I don’t know what to think.

How to explain to my boyfriend that I want him to quit smoking?

So we’ve been talking for a while, and he told me straight up that he smokes cigarettes, but doesn’t do drugs or drink. I’ve always hated that he does that, because I care about him and I hate that he’s doing that to his body. And whenever I try to mention how bad it is, he brings up how drinking is worse (because occasionally I go out drinking with my friends). I just want him to stop smoking. How can I tell him that I want him to quit?

How much harder is it for people who have quit smoking to resist the urge than someone who has never tried?

I know that if you don’t start, you’ll never be addicted to it. But if you quit smoking, is the urge to smoke much greater, does it get easier as time passes, is it really possible to be free of the addiction, or will it stay, make life hard forever?
