Hypnosis For Stop Smoking

Using Self Hypnosis to Stop Smoking

If you are having some reservations with regard to be able to stop smoking, then it obviously has to do with how hard it will be to eliminate this addiction from your life.  However, there is some effective help that guide you along the way.  By using self hypnosis, you can eliminate the cravings by breaking the compulsive behavior that makes you want to smoke in the first place.

If you are trying to give up smoking cigarettes, you know how hard it is to eliminate that nagging desire to light up.  However, it is possible to quit, and as a matter of fact, half of all adult smokers will succeed in quitting smoking forever. Many smokers have been able to kick the habit by replacing it with a different, positive habit  and without having to survive withdrawal symptoms.  The most effective, easiest method to quit smoking and do  this is  through hypnotherapy.

Stopping smoking through hypnotherapy is one of the most frequently practiced forms of hypnosis. It is often cited as a one of the way to quit smoking along with other plans such as nicotine patches and gums.  Hypnosis helps end the smoking addiction by dampening the smoking urge, keeping you dedicated to quitting, and helping you to relax and relieve so you will not be tempted to light up.

There are physiological and psychological aspects to smoking.  The physiological addiction is a physical craving  the body acquires for nicotine. This is what causes the physical withdrawal symptoms that make people feel it is nearly impossible to quit smoking.  However, this is a temporary and very short part of the overall process of quitting smoking,  which lasts between three days and one week. I know a week feels like forever if you are a smokers, but in the large scheme of things it is really not that long.  By the end of this period, your body gets used to niicotine free functioning.

There is no doubt that the most challenging part of breaking the smoking habit  is overcoming the psychological addiction.  These are the mental and emotional aspects of smoking.  When you develop the smoking habit, you also create an unconscious desire to smoke at certain times, such as after eating, before going to bed, or whenever you have a drink. This is called a conditioned response.  By using hypnosis to help you stop smoking, it helps eliminate those unconscious relationships that cause you to crave cigarettes,  which then eliminates the conditioned response to smoke. Hypnotherapy will also help you to stay motivated by strengthening the resolve that gave you the desire to quit smoking in the first place.

Quit Smoking Physical Effects

Okay, so now you have decided it’s time to give up smoking. When you give up cigarettes you will likely experience a few strange physical sensations.  This is quite normal as your body is trying to cope with the fact that it does not have the thing it is craving.

In the beginning, many people who stop smoking will have headaches.  This is very common but it can be relieved by taking over the counter headache medicine such as aspirin. Remember, your body does not yet understand what it is like not to smoke.

withdrawal symptoms

Another very common occurrence is that many people feel tired.  This is due to the fact that nicotine acts as a stimulant so you body needs to figure out how to work well without it.  That is also why you might get headaches.  If you drink a lot of coffee and then cut it out, you will experience the same sort of thing.

I still remember how it was before I quit smoking.  I used to have a cigarette when I was trying to work out a problem – I wondered how I would ever be able to work without smoking.  Well, I survived and so can you.

Another thing that also may occur is that you may have trouble sleeping.  Hmm, now why could this be when I am acting tired as well? In this case its your body which is craving that nicotine it used to get all the time.  Your mind is thrashing back and forth trying to cope with that drug it seems to think it needs.

Nicotine withdrawal can also lead to a lack of concentration.  This could be due to a reduced level of blood sugar.  Nicotine makes the body release sugar into the blood stream.  This is also why people who quit seem to be hungry a lot of the time.  It’s not that your are hungry more than normal folks, it’s the fact that before you skipped meals because you did not feel hungry while you were smoking.  This is due to the fact that now if you skip a meal, your blood sugar will fall to below normal levels and you’ll feel faint if you don’t eat.

You may even experience flu-like symptoms if you give up smoking.  It may get so bad that you will get a sore throat, start coughing, and feel tight in the chest.  This is all due to your body trying to rid itself of all the toxins you have dumped into it by smoking in the first place.  You may even start hacking up some disgusting stuff out of your lungs as your body tries to clean itself out.

I know this sounds horrible to some, but just think what it is doing to your body every day that you do smoke.  Once you have relieved yourself of the physical dependence on smoking, these symptoms will go away.

Having smoked since a was a young boy, I was totally amazed when I actually tasted something.  Once thing smoking does is to destroy your taste buds — that’s another reason why eating becomes only a necessity.  However, if you can actually taste food, you will experience true pleasure in the dining experience and that is definitely worth stopping smoking.

Stop Smoking Patches

Quit Smoking Patches – Are They Good Or Bad?

Here is the bottom line — you are addicted to cigarettes.  This is due to the fact that by smoking your body and brain are used to receiving nicitine which is an addictive drug.  Now, when you are quitting smoking, your body still craves that nicotine and that is why giving up smoking is so hard — lack of nictine.

There are many different treatments and products on the market today for people who want to give up smoking.  one of the very prevalent products is the quit smoking patch.

The quit smoking patch looks like a bandaid.  Its a self adhesive patch that is placed on the skin somewhere.  This patch contains an amount of nictine that will help you stop craving cigarettes.  This is accomplaished by the patch releasing small amounts of nicotine into the body through the skin through absorbtion. The nicotine enters the body at constant rate so that your brain does not decide that it is in need of nicotine and therefore does not tell you that its time to have a cigarette.  In this way you can avoid smoking because the cravings are gone.

The patch comes in different nictine strengths, and, as a result, you are able to wean yourself from nictine addiction slowly by reducing the amount of nicotine intake through the patch. Over time you will no longer need the patch at all, and since you no longer crave nicotine, you will no longer have the smoking addiction.

Okay, so what are the plusses and minuses to this type of treatment?  On the plus side, the nictine patch provides the body with a constant supply of nicotine and, as a result, the brain does not have to think about "needing a smoke" to stave off the cravings.  In this way, your brain slowly fogets about needing that "nicotine fix", and, after a while, you will no longer feel the need to smoke.

One the minus side, sometimes the nicotine patch can irritate the skin which can be very annoying.  The patches are also fairly expensive taken by their price alone.  However, compared to the cost of cigarettes, trading one for the other is not such a big deal especially if you smoke alot right now.

There have also been some reports of people having weird dreams if they sleep with the patch on.  However, taking the patch off to sleep really defeeat the purpose because when you wake up in the morning all you can think of is having a cigarette to get that nocotine into your body.  This will make you agitated and focused on smoking until the new patch started working again.

Now the biggest disadvantage to the quit smoking patch is that if you smoke witht eh oatch on or shortly after removing it, you could suffer a nicotine overdose which could lead to death — hardly a good result at all. For this reason you should fully understand the ramifications of smoking if you are going to try the patch to help you quit.

Weight Loss After Quitting Smoking

Worried about the weight when you quit smoking – just understand why it can be an issue so you can prepare to react after you quit.

Quit Smoking and Keep off the Weight

So you want to quit smoking but you don’t want to gain a bunch of weight in the process. That is probably the biggest fear among all people who want to quit smoking; that they’ll gain a ton of weight and not be able to lose it.

They figure it is better to be a smoker and thin than to be a non-smoker and over-weight, so they decide to not quit. There are simple reasons why people gain weight when they quit smoking and in the following I will explain some of those reasons and how to avoid them.

First and foremost, nicotine is an appetite suppressant and a stimulant. Your metabolism increases slightly when you smoke. Once you quit, your metabolism decreases and your hunger increases.

When you get stressed, as a smoker, the first thing you do is light up. When you quit smoking and you get stressed, the first thing you do is head for the vending machine or fridge. Stress plays a huge role in whether you control your weight gain or not; so stay active and keep you mind busy.

To pacify these cravings, food is usually the substitute. High calorie, high sugar foods such as candy are most often the replacement as it’s quick to get, quick to eat and quick to give you that little buzz.

However, the calories add up, the metabolism is slowed and, sadly, weight is gained. To keep from gaining weight when you’ve decided to quit is to counteract the behaviors that cause you to gain weight in the first place.

It’s important to stay busy to keep your mind off your cravings. If that doesn’t work you can try exercising or doing some kind of task that isn’t stressful. If all else fails and you have to give in to those cravings, pick healthy food to snack on instead of the high fat stuff.

Have carrot sticks instead of potato chips or dried fruit instead of cookies. Low calorie/sugar free snacks have come a long way and, in some cases, are just as good as their junk food counterparts.

The best advice for someone who has decided to quit smoking is to start an exercise program as soon as you quit. Most smokers will gain some weight just because you will eat more because your appetite will increase plus food will taste better. Your metabolism will slow down, so that’s why it’s important to start exercising.

Something that is very helpful in the process of quitting smoking is to drink a lot of water to keep your hunger pangs under control. Nicotine is what addicts you to smoking, but it is the habit of smoking that continues to bug you after you quit. Stay busy and keep yourself occupied and start a good exercise program. Set your goal to quit and control your eating behaviors; this will ensure you the best results and a much healthier body.

I lost 40 lbs in 3 months with an extreme weight loss diet that almost destroyed my health. I took spicy food and milk together which led to serious diarrhea everyday. I’ve been doing a bit of research after my dramatic weight loss experience and found that there’s actually a PROGRAM designed to do what I attempted, except its basically more healthier and effective. Methods To Quit Smoking Cigarettes

Sometimes giving up smoking is not that easy.  Here are a few sure fire methods that can help you stop smoking for good.

Failed to Quit Smoking?

If you have tried to quit smoking and failed, here is a 3-prong method that will most probably enable you to quit. Five of my acquaintances who failed previously have used this method to quit successfully. The estimated success rate may be as high as 92%.

take a shot to quit smoking

There are 3 components in this method. All 3 components should be used concurrently. Otherwise, the chance of failure may still be quite high.

Desire to quit (?): It is often said that if you want to quit smoking, you have to have a strong desire to do so. However, this is unrealistic. Persons who are addicted to smoking do NOT want to quit, unless they are suffering or about to suffer a major illness related to smoking. Before this point is reached, a good alternative is to have a stubborn relative or friend to persistently keep on reminding (or nagging) you to quit.

Nicotine Patch (NOT nicotine gum): Some individuals tend to supplement the nicotine gum with a few cigarettes or other tobacco products. Persons who do that will almost certainly fail. Worst of all, they can get addict to the nicotine gum in addition to smoking. Use the nicotine patch instead. Follow the manufacturer instructions carefully. However, this may not suppress the urge completely. Do NOT supplement it with cigarettes or other tobacco products. Use acupressure as an adjunct (see below).

Exception: If you have tried the patch and failed, it might be better for you to use the gum instead. First, find out how many pieces of gum a day you need to suppress the craving. Stay on that number of pieces for 2-4 weeks. Then, make the pieces smaller by cutting away 25% from each piece every 2-4 weeks. Do not increase the number of the smaller pieces. Do NOT supplement the smaller pieces with cigarettes or other tobacco products. Use acupressure as an adjunct (see below).

Acupressure (NOT acupuncture): According to the former president of the Acupuncture Society of Alberta, for quitting smoking acupressure can be just as effective as acupuncture. And, it can be self-administered. Instead of needles, intermittent pressure is applied to the acupuncture points. Also according to him, a success rate of 85% can be achieved with just 2 points – 1 on each side of your body. The point can be located by following your thumb up to the skin grease of your wrist. It is located just distal to where you can feel your pulse the strongest. Place a giant rubber band (2 1/2" in diameter and 3/8" in width) around your wrist. Pull on the rubber band and let it snap at the point. You have to pull on the rubber band hard enough so that it hurts a little when it snaps back. Do this 15 times on your left wrist and 15 times on your right wrist. The urge to smoke will be gone. If you find this embarrassing, go to the washroom and do it in there.

Use all 3 components until you do not have the urge to smoke anymore. This may take as long as 3 months. It is probably a good idea to add swimming to your daily routine while trying to quit.

Stop Smoking With Laser Treatment

There is now a new laser treatment for smoking cessation.  This new technique may be the right one for you.

Laser Therapy: Treatment to Quit Smoking

The widely advertised and propagated ‘smoking is injurious to health’ is being taken seriously across the globe. However, there are smokers who find it difficult to quit smoking, despite the disadvantages. Now with laser therapy, there is hope…

laser therapy to quit smoking

The treatments to stop smoking are many. There are patches and herbal medicines to choose from. Now, people are willing to even pay thousands of dollars for the unique laser therapy that promises to offer instant relief.

Understanding the implications of the addiction:

The addiction is terrible and to ‘quit smoking’ is easier said than done. Smoking not only destroys the person’s immune system, it also affects those around. The addiction is one of a kind in this respect. It is the only addiction that is injurious to the health of everyone in the immediate environment of the person smoking. Passive smoking is a global concern, which is partially the reason why governments have stepped up on their contribution to the ‘quit smoking’ campaign. Those within a supportive environment at home and work have been able to get rid of the addiction altogether. But, sadly there are still many addicts who ignore information on the disastrous consequences and remain a threat to society and self at large.

Laser therapy to quit smoking:

Among the many treatments that have been designed in time to help people to give up the smoking addiction, the latest laser therapy seems to be catching up fast, on popularity and effect. Laser treatment to quit smoking is easily available at most multi faceted, funded and private medical facilities. A number of addicts have enrolled for the therapy. The laser treatment is commissioned by the Food and Drug Administration and involves the use of low-power laser therapy. The smoking cessation via this therapy is safe and effective. A number of cured addicts pay testimony to this. The FDA consistently evaluates the treatment and the bio-stimulation lasers used for the therapy. The laser devices are used to help provide temporary pain relief during withdrawals and finally do away with the addiction. The laser therapy to quit smoking is prominently recognized within the medical fraternity mainly due to the accompanying counseling sessions and intake of vitamins. The patients or smoking addicts are exposed to case specific information via video marketing techniques and handouts. The sessions are case specific, influenced largely by:

  • The patient’s ability to pay for the treatment
  • The patient’s level of addiction to smoking
  • The extent of withdrawals and understanding of the treatment

FDA regulations monitor the use of laser therapy to quit smoking. The governing authorities ensure that preliminary exposure to the therapy is offered at the investigational clinical analysis of every individual case. The clinical research on the therapy and its effectiveness reveals that thousands of smokers have been able to successfully quit smoking. There are many testimonials and referrals accessible online as well as offline that vouch for the treatment’s effectiveness.

How laser therapy works:

The newly researched and applied laser therapy to quit smoking basically comes from the ancient Asian healing art of acupuncture. The underlying principles are the same – reduce tension and increase circulation. The low-level laser therapy is believed to promote the release of endorphins. These natural chemicals are present in the human body and are primarily responsible for signaling a reaction to stress and decreased energy. The laser used to administer the laser treatment to quit smoking is soft and literally like a light bulb. The laser is directed and applied to certain researched energy points. These points are related to the smoking addiction. The therapy is an external procedure and has no scope for drug abuse. It is also non-thermal and hence very safe for application. The laser treatment is applied to researched points on the hands, face, ears and wrist. The patient feels nothing more than a warm, pulsating sensation.

What doctors think:

Doctors the world over are now informing those who are eager to rid themselves of the addiction, about clinical research on low-level laser. The treatment takes the patient through the initial withdrawal from nicotine and slowly conditions the psyche by boosting endorphin production. The alleviated stress enables the person to give up nicotine easily. There are a number of online as well as offline resources that offer information on the avenues to avail of laser treatment to quit smoking. The treatment is designed to help you contribute positively to society and your own development by healing from within by understanding smoking effects, to self and others.

Support After Smoking Cessation

Quit Smoking Support – Is This Really Helpful?

It is not easy to stop smoking.  One thing that may help in your effrt to give up smoking for good is to join a support group who can help you stay off those cigarettes forever.

So many millions of people are not able to quit smoking successfully. Now with this overlooked resource – quit smoking support groups can help you to achieve your dream of being smoke free.

One of the biggest steps forward in helping you kick the smoking habit is to get together with like minded people that are engaged in the same thing that you are trying – to quit smoking. This form of quit smoking support has been around for many years. First of all you should really strive to join a group that has a strong purpose.

I’ve seen some of these group sessions which turn into nothing more that a wasted hour. Your time and your energy is precious so do not spend in time in a group that has no focus. Some of the complainers would come in and derail a good support group session in minutes. The leader of the group would fail to get the group back together again and it would be off to the races.

Napoleon Hill the success and motivational writer has made this idea popular. He used the term "mastermind group". But its purpose and function were just the same. You’d select several folks from different industries that agreed to meet together once a week for the purpose of advancing the causes of one of the mastermind group members. Hill believed that no one person has all of the right answers. But when you tapped into the hearts and minds of others you would normally be rewarded with success.

This is nothing more than a quit smoking support group type meeting. But albeit the purpose is different and that is okay. You see 4 out of 5 former smokers revealed their steps to success. And above al they recognized the fact that the quit smoking group gave them a sense of strength, unity and support above all. When they felt the cravings really kick in they were able to get support from their support group.

You see the concept of making discoveries or getting added support often comes when you least expect it. Take for example the discovery of the first quit smoking pill Zyban. It was never intended to be used for smoking cessation. It was a anti depression pill that worked nicely. But researchers and doctors began to notice a very positive trend. The emerging trend showed that a number of people that were taking Zyban (Wellbutrin) depression were also able to stop smoking with ease. This was amazing because up until that point no one at Glaxo Welcome Inc had ever thought of creating a pill to help you quit smoking.

Everyone knew that quitting smoking was very hard but no one ever would have though that this single pill would launch an entire industry for the quit smoking pills, patches and nasal sprays. Just goes to show what can be done when you have the right motive and the quit smoking support to back up your aims.

You should take the time to map out or find a good support group to and get started on your road to being a former smoker today.

Quit Smoking Electronic Cigarette

A very interesting concept in your quest to stop smoking – electronic cigarettes.  This new twist can be beneficial to many people.

Want to Quit Smoking? Try an Electronic Cigarette

Quitting smoking is a very difficult task. While nicotine patches and gum are viable methods, smokers that attempt to quit using both have a very high rate of relapse. Electronic cigarettes have advantages over both. They simulate the act of smoking, deliver an immediate hit of nicotine, and are inexpensive. If you want to quit smoking, and have been unsuccessful in the past, Electronic Cigarettes could be the answer you are looking for.

There are a lot of things in this world that cause cancer, but no cause has been so extensively researched as smoking cigarettes. According the the American Cancer Society (ACS), about 87% of lung cancer deaths are caused by smoking. Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer death among both men and women, and is one of the most difficult cancers to treat. Smoking is also a major cause of heart disease, bronchitis, emphysema, and stroke. There are myriad products and programs available to smokers trying to kick the habit, including nicotine patches, nicotine gum, and other alternatives. However, none of these have a high rate of success. The latest product, available on Amazon.com for under $100, is an Electronic Cigarette (also known as an E-Cig), which simulates the act of smoking and delivers an adjustable amount of nicotine. These imitation cigarettes may be the answer that millions of smokers worldwide are looking for.

e electronic cigarette quit smoke smoking starter kit

Smokers know that their habit is not good for them. They also know that it causes harm to people around them. They have seen commercials that list the harmful health effects and show lucid pictures of the lungs of smokers, and they can still remember the clip of Debbie smoking a cigarette through a hole in her neck. Most of them have also realized after graduating from high school that smoking cigarettes does not make them look cool. However, they continue to smoke. The ACS states that, "Although 70% of smokers want to quit and 35% attempt to quit each year, less than 5% succeed." They attribute this high rate of relapse to the strong nicotine addiction that smokers face.

Smoking an E-Cig has significant advantages over nicotine patches or nicotine gum.

First, the hit of nicotine is immediate. Rather than the delayed effect of patches and gum, the smoker’s nicotine urge is satisfied instantaneously. This reduces the chances of a relapse, as smokers do not have to wait for the effect to kick in.

Second, E-Cigs give users the satisfaction of actually smoking a cigarette. They have the taste and feel of a real cigarette, without most of the harmful effects associated with smoking one. Most smokers, in addition to a nicotine addiction, have a strong habit formed around the act of smoking something. Now they can smoke an E-Cig in the same way that they smoke a cigarette, only they are inhaling vaporized nicotine instead of tobacco. When the smoker inhales, a battery-powered atomizer turns a small amount of liquid nicotine into vapor, which enters the smokers lungs. An LED light glows at the end of the E-Cig, contributing to the authentic appearance of the act, and signifying that the device is in use. E-Cigs are available in numerous flavors, including standard tobacco, menthol, and vanilla, as well as brand name imitations like Camel and Marlboro.

Once users have switched to only smoking E-Cigs, they can gradually reduce the nicotine content in each cartridge. The highest level of nicotine content, 16mg, delivers the same amount of nicotine per hit as a cigarette. From there, users can reduce the nicotine concentration to 11mg, 6mg, and eventually purchase cartridges that are nicotine free, while still satisfying their urge to smoke. The vapor exhaled from E-Cigs is odorless, and does not contain the carcinogens present in the second-hand smoke of normal cigarettes. In addition, if you purchase from a China wholesaler, Electronic Cigarettes will cost you less than smoking an equivalent amount of cigarettes.

For those who have so far been unable to quit smoking, E-Cigs could literally be a lifesaver.

Quit Smoking It’s A Matter Of Time

I Want to Quit Smoking

I wanted to quit smoking so bad! I has tried everything from gum to medication. I found the only true solution. It did not include any substance except using my head.

So I had been smoking for 7 years and I came up with many excuses to quit smoking. I felt so bad I couldn’t walk up a flight of stairs in my house without feeling out of breath.

I tried the gum and it seemed to not fulfill my craving for that taste of smoking. I then tried the patch and saw myself smoking and using the patch. I would start trembling, getting headaches and realized that this was more than a chemical dependency.

stop smoking cigerretts

I realized that I needed more than nicotine and I was doing a lot of things out of habit. I just couldn’t figure out why my simple habit as a teenager turned into a all out addiction.

Psychology calls this a oral fixation. It is the desire to always seek some sort of security by having something in your mouth. This starts at day one when you start sucking your thumb or pacifier. I remembered this in my college psychology 101 class.

I knew then it would be a fight and one of the hardest habits I could break. My health was at stake and I really needed to overcome this. After one day I saw my father in law quit smoking after 60 years. He had done the same thing he tried everything in the world to quit smoking.

He just said "I want to quit smoking!" I then knew he was serious he was fed up.

The next instance was my own father saying smoking is for weak minded people. He said this while I was smoking in front of him. I was mad and wanted to smoke even more. But, then it reiterated what I was thinking, this was all mental and no nicotine gum or patch would stop this mental addiction.
