Is it normal to get sick if you quit smoking?

I have been smoking for 5 years and last week I just decided it was totally not worth it to buy any more. I havent smoked for a almost 2 weeks now and I have a sore throat and congestion. Should I be worried because I quit cold turkey?

  1. It is common to go through coughing and increased mucous production in your airway after quitting smoking. It will pass.Stay well hydrated and if the cough should worsen &/or you start to spike a fever you should get checked by your Dr. You have made a wonderful choice in heading toward much better health, more cash in your pocket and better skin and breath! Yay!

  2. Well, if you have A LOT a day and you quit cold turkey then you can get sick by your body being so used to recieving so much per day. If this is the case than you probably want to gradually get their.

For ex. lets say you have 5 a day, then you should have 4 one week, then 3 the next, 2 ,1, and then you’ve achieved your goal… zero. 😉

  3. They say smoking kills! What smoker wouldn’t kill for a smoke.
They say that Nicotine addiction is worst than heroine for giving up.
Nicotine is a very serious drug. Many Health Centres can offer help to ease you away from Nicotine with Nicotine patches, Lozenges.
    Whatever don’t do it alone.
