How can I help a friend quit smoking?

My best friend has been smoking about a month, and wants to quit, but is already pretty addicted – he is stressed a lot, and took up the habit to help ease the stress. I don’t live close to him, but can anyone give me ideas on how to help someone quit smoking?

I have emailed him the risks of smoking, and things like that, but wish I could do more.

  1. I personally found it really hard to quit!!! i did how ever find the cut down and stop method the best!!! i started to cut out places and times i would smoke, like first it was around the bf, then at sporting events then after dinner ect ect and also at the same tim ecutting down on the strength of the brand u smoke 😀

I have quit have done so for a year now i found my method the least stressful and inexpensive way!!! the worst one to stop is the after dinner smoke and the drunk smoke LOL

  2. Like the first poster said, its very difficult to quit smoking, even if he’s only been doing it for a month. You can give him the link to this website: http://www.quitnet.com
The website was helpful for me when I was quitting because it lets you set a quit date, track your progress, etc. It also has a lot of helpful tips for when you’re quitting and tells you what to expect.

If your friend wants to quit, it will be a lot easier. However, if he’s not ready to yet, then I’m afraid the facts you’re sending him are probably going in one ear and out the other. I know when I was smoking, the addiction was stronger than the reasons against smoking.

You’re a good friend for caring about him though and I wish both of you good luck 🙂

  3. Its really hard to quit smoking specially when it is your habit. There are ways but its really difficult for someone to stop smoking. However, I these site helpful, they’re giving methods on how to stop like others do. Hope this helps

  4. Well, your friend can replace smoking with something else, like chewing gum. Every time he feels the need to smoke replace it with chewing gum.
