How long after you quit smoking will your lungs be completely healed?

I was a daily smoker, but only about once or twice a day, and I used filtered and low-tar cigarettes. Some days I would skip because I wasn’t feeling up for it. Smoking was a habit for me for about 15 years and I quit 5 years ago. How long will it take for my lungs to be completely clean?

  1. It is roughly 7 years for the major simptoms to go.
9 Years for lungs to recover to almost pre smoking state
11-13 Years for there to be no difference between the lungs of a non smoker and yourself.

  2. If you eat a lot of veggies and fruits, exercise and live healthy; about 5-10 years, depends on how much you smoked; they self heal after a while….

  3. I hate to say it, but you’re looking at another 5-10 years before you’re almost clean but unfortunately they will never be completely healed from the damage.

  4. Why do you think some people dont ever smoke cause they dont want that stuff in there lungs my point is if you smoked allot then they wont get clean

  5. You smoked one or two cigs a day, for 15 years… MAX?

    That is incredibly unusual…

Without an iota of evidence I would hazard saying you are as good as it is going to get 5 years later.

  6. Been told around 5-10 years but I say it really depends on your body. Not all people are the same, some people heal faster than others. It could be the immune system or the person’s overall health that make them heal a lot faster.
