How can I get my dad to quit smoking?

Im really concerned about his health, He has been drinking and smoking for a while now and Its been over 2 years since Im trying to get him to quit.

  1. maybe you can sit him down and have a chat. it might help to get upset in front of him during this chat to show him that it’s upsetting you and you are concerned for his health. the only one that can decide to stop at the end of the day is your dad. go along to support groups with him and encourage him along the way. set him and yourself a goal (e.g the money he saves from not buying ciggerettes and alcohol can go towards a small holiday or somthing)

  2. U cant get your father to quit smoking. it has to be his choice to quit or else it won’t happen. Just show that you care about him and really want him to take care of himself. Thats all you can do.

    My teacher showed us a long slide with before and after pics of smokers and their teeth. Then she passed around a black jaar full of car oils and tar and tld us this is what u caough up in 1 year of smoking. Make your dad a slide show with gross pictures of smokers and side effects (: good luck hun

I think you should talk to your dad and tell him the bad effects in smoking and drinking and tell him also that it’s bad to other people around him including you because secondhand smoke is much dangerous so the people who smell a smoke from the cigarette may lead them to death immediately when they always smell smoke from cigarette

  5. if your not afraid of him then everytime he goes to light a smoke grab it and brake it. then go on about how much you care for him and your afraid your going to lose him. eventually hell try to hide it from you thats when you find out where hes keeping them then throw them out poor water on them destroy them. eventually hell find its too much money going down the drain and just give up.

  6. I understand you. All around you almost everyday you’re going to find people that don’t smoke. Do they seem like they’re enjoying life any less than you are? Do they appear to be enjoying themselves less because they aren’t smoking? Do they appear more stressed out? What you should see is that all those people around you that don’t smoke are exactly like you are – and they go through the exact same things that you do, with the only difference being that they don’t immerse themselves in clouds and clouds of smoke!
    But many smokers continue to do so simply because they feel that they need to. The general feeling is that if they were to stop smoking they’d end up feeling more down, less happy, more stressed out, and so on. While it is true that smoking releases dopamine which causes a mild euphoria and helps you to relax – the question that you should really be asking yourself is whether or not you need smoking in order to be able to feel content and relaxed!
    From the start of your life, right up to the point where you did start smoking, you managed to cope well without smoking. What makes you believe that you need to smoke or you wouldn’t be able to cope from this point forward? When exactly did you start feeling that way? Chances are, you probably don’t even remember the exact point when you became dependent on smoking – but that really doesn’t matter.
    All things said and done, smoking is an addiction that is dangerous – and it will probably end up killing you unless you quit at some point or other. Now that you know that there’s really no justification for thinking that you ‘need’ to smoke, it is up to you to take the next step, and firmly decide to kick your unwanted habit!
