I have been smoking a little over a pack a day for eight years. I am only twenty, but I have lines on my forehead that lead me to believe my habit is prematurely aging my skin. I quit smoking last week, and i am wondering if my skin will improve. Is there any way for me to get rid of these aging lines, or am I permanently screwed?
Smoking for 8 years will leave its marks on your face. Small capillaries in our skin provide oxygen in blood to our skin, and nicotine in cigarettes and cigars dry-up the capillaries that supply nourishment to the skin. Vertical and horizontal lines on the face are evidence of smoking. There is still time to save your lungs from smoking. I smoked for 10 years, and I was told by a physician that it takes about 3 to 4 years of not smoking to repair your lungs. I had an ulcer and was forced to quit smoking.
Human skin in males is tougher than skin in women, so it will be difficult to remove deep lines. You can still use a moisturizer cream every day to apply to your face. When I was working, I was required to wear a shirt and tie, and I had to shave every morning. I found a good aftershave cream that I continue to use today. I use Neutrogena Oil-free Moisture for Combination Skin that has no fragrance. Check-it-out!
